Hello,
i did manage to set up a CR1000 network similar to the one described in the manual chapter 8.5.6.
4 loggers are connected. One is the main router with TCP/IP connection to the local network.
one is next to it and the other two are 15 meters away. I did not get a communication between them and the main logger established. Now I read in the manual "8.5.6.1 LAN Wiring" that cable length should be < 7.6 meters. Do i have any chance to overcome this limitation?
Thanks for your help
Thomas
If you are close to the 7.6 meter length, you can try lowering the baud radio between the dataloggers. Sometimes that can give you a little more distance.
Other ways of networking your dataloggers together and still keeping your bandwith and baud rate up is to connect all your dataloggers together using RS-485. This can be done by adding MD-485s to each of the dataloggers. Another option is to put a private Ethernet or Wireless network together behind the first CR1000 by adding another Ethernet or Wireless interface to all the CR1000s. A radio network can be done as well. There are a lot of options avialable.
Okay, thank you. But all of these options require additional hardware, right?
I do have some cheap RS232-RS485 converters. Do you think that will work as well?
Hi..as the suggested above go for the dataloggers. Also networking your dataloggers together and still keeping your bandwith and baud rate up is to connect all your dataloggers together using RS-485.
